Great little space in a city alleyway. We were caught off guard by this little gem. As you enter the doorway, you realize the space is so distinctive in its space. We were seated in the greenhouse area, full of bountiful trees & plants. Our waiter was attentive and thoughtful to the occasion. His suggestions were spot on and did not disappoint. Engaged in our casual and welcoming conversation as if part of the party (in the best way). Overall, a fabulous meal experience. Would def visit again!

This restaurant took me by surprise. It's hidden. Kind of in an alley. But when you first walk in you go up this grand staircase into a dining area that feels like a greenhouse with lots of plants and lanterns. The food was amazing. We ordered the appetizers twice because we all wanted more. Everything had its own unique flavor and flare. There wasn't a thing we tried that I didn't like. The service was great too! Fave thing was the lamb! Second the chicken. Third Sea Bass! (Not a fish person)

This place has always been a favorite of mine! Food is out of this world with flavor and high artisanship. The service is exceptional. And the ambiance is exquisite. This place has quite the beautiful story. It envelops you the minute you walk in the door. Go, you will never be sorry for it! Worth every damn penny!

The variety of dishes they offer is impressive. Everything we tried was delicious. I highly recommend the yellow curry shrimp if you can handle a bit of spice--it's absolutely fantastic. The sea bass dish was a bit on the pricey side, but it was definitely worth it for the taste and quality. What I loved most about Le Colonial was the ambiance. The moment you step into the entrance hallway, you're greeted by lush tropical plants, which makes you feel like you've been transported to Asia. The interior decor is lovely and adds to the whole experience. It's a really charming place. Definitely worth checking out

we had such a great meal here!! admittedly we don't eat a lot of vietnamese food because vegetarian options can be pretty limited and underwhelming, so we were so pleasantly surprised by the wide range on the wide range of veggie options! the food was hearty, flavourful and delicious! I also loved the vibrant outdoor patio and the understated interior decor!

I was thrilled that they served banh xeo with lobster and pork belly. It was perfectly crisp and the nuoc mam sauce was delicious. Plenty of butter lettuce and herbs were provided so you could roll up the banh xeo and dip it in the sauce. I love tamarind cocktails so was pleasantly surprised that they served tamarind margarita!

The food was sooo delicious. I've never had vietnamese fusion like this before. It was also super fun because the outside doesn't look like much but the inside is beautiful!!! The staff was also super friendly and attentive as well Highly recommend coming here and getting everything from appetizers to cocktails to desserts!

This place has a classy, high end ambiance with friendly and just the right amount of attentiveness of service. I got the: crispy tiger prawn and pork crepe- I feel like the prawns aren't really there but overall pretty tasty Central vietnamese steamed rice cake- i've never tried this vietnamese dish before, the rice cake itself has a gelatin texture, the peanuts and sauce on top are the star of the dish, and the provided fish sauce definitely helps with the blandness of the rice cake itself. Overall love this one Portobello spring roll- the rice noodle wrap is nice and thin, the mushroom was well made, overall nothing wrong Lemongrass chicken- the chicken breast is dry but still tasty, the thighs were a bit oily but the fish sauce and wild honey jus was a nice kick. Brussel sprouts- the sweet chili glaze was definitely very pleasant, it had a tangyness to it as well, the carrot chips were a nice slightly crunchy addition. Loved this Fried tiger prawn- the rice flakes were too thick, i wish it had more of an airy crunchyness to it. It's so thick it was scratching my mouth. But taste good Overall this place has good food but with little things that can be improved. Good ambiance but the price is on the higher side.

This was our first experience at Le Colonial and our review is based on the 2023 SF Restaurant Week $65 dinner menu. Overall, we had a good experience and dishes were generous portions and nicely presented. We started with the fried tiger prawns (generous portion of three pawns even though the menu says five ) and the beef salad which was perfectly seasoned and balanced. For entrees we had the lemongrass chicken two ways and the plant based pork meatball curry. Both dishes were delicious but we preferred the sautéed chicken thighs to the roasted chicken breast. The highlight for me was the fire roasted eggplant which surprised me since I am not typically an eggplant fan- it was delicate and balanced well with shallots and pork. The brussels sprouts were also nicely done in a very large portion. Last but not least, dessert was a great ending to the meal. We had the matcha tiramisu -the matcha was subtle but tasted good on its own to have the matcha flavor come through. The panna cotta was soft and silky and had the perfect hint of lemon to balance the blackberries. In terms of service, all of the staff were kind and friendly but I wish service could have been a little quicker. The food came out promptly but it took a little while to order and to also get the check. Also, the restaurant week menu was not included with the regular menu and we had to request the restaurant week menu which they gladly brought. All in all a pleasant experience!
